Steinberg is a farm atop a steep hill south of the village of
Rüderswil.
The birth records of the Evangelisch-Reformierte Kirche, Rüderswil show that,
from at least 1661 until about 1728, three generations of
the Joseph Burkhalter (B) family lived at Steinberg.
Joseph and his wife Elisabeth passed the farm on to
their youngest son, Benedict Burkhalter (B5). He and his wife
Anna passed the farm to their youngest son,
Ulrich Burkhalter (B57). About 1728 Ulrich moved on to
La Heutte in the Jura Mountains. (1)
