Family Connection This would have been a natural path for travel between Pennsylvania (PA) and Ohio (OH), and eventually points west. Our ancestor Joseph Good (GC229) may have used Braddocks's Road, which later became part of the National Road, when he and his family moved in 1811 from Virginia to Ohio (OH). (2) Parts of the National Road also may have been used by some of Josesh's children and grandchildren when they moved their families from western Ohio to southwestern Iowa and central Missouri.

The National Road, which was constructed between 1811 and 1852, ran between Cumberland, MD and Vandalia, IL. Also known as the Cumberland Road, the National Pike, or the Old Pike, it was a major route for expanding a youthful United States to the west. (1)
