The Great Wagon Road was colonial America's principal highway south from Pennsylvania. Parke Rouse (1) tells many stories of life along the road from the 1600's through the introduction of the automobile.
 

Family Connection This probably was the route taken in 1795 by Jacob Good (GC22) and family when they moved from Lancaster Co., PA to Rockingham Co., VA. The road went through both Lancaster, PA and Harrisonburg, VA.
