Bill Cordes moved from Cincinnati to California in 1981 where he opened an Art Studio and began to exhibit and breed Afghan Hounds.  Bill relates several incidents where he has run across the Cordes name or Cordes relatives.

Several years after moving to California he received a call from a lady in the East who was also a breeder and a dog show judge.  She said her mother was a Cordes from Cincinnati that they must be cousins.  She turned out to be Lynn Schenzel 8-7-11-1.  About a year later she came to California to judge a show in which Bill was showing his dog.

Bill was once doing some business promotion work and had the need of French posters and booklets for a campaign.  The French Tourist office in San Francisco gave him a beautiful book and in it is a small paragraph on the town of Cordes, complete with a picture of the Cordes Chateau.

In 1950-51 Bill was in the Army stationed in Germany at a small resort town by the name of Bad-Manheim, near Frankfort.  In town one day he came upon "Cordesstrasse" (Cordes Street).

One of his Army buddies was a George Davenport from Los Angeles.  They lost touch until several years ago, when by chance,  George happened to walk up Bill's driveway.  He didn't know Bill lived there.  He was a realtor and was looking for mountain property .  A while later, George called Bill and said he was working with a Realtor in  Redwood City and he thinks you may be related.  His mother is a Cordes from Cincinnati.  They came up a week later and it turned out to be Bill Walsh, 7-3-1-3-2, son of Betty Jane Cordes Walsh.  George said, "you two Bills look enough alike to be brothers."
