Samuel is a great grandson of Wendel Bauman, one of the original Pequea settlers of 1710. (1 p33)

1820: Samuel Bowman builds the first house in what is to become the village of Bowmansville, PA. Although others settled in this area along Muddy Creek as early as 1737, the completion of Samuel's house in 1820 is regarded as the founding of Bowmansville. (1 p24,26)
