1839 Apr 1: Joseph buys 2.4 acres in NW/4 9-15-17 from Christian Beery 2nd for $24. (31)

These two transactions on April 1 swap two small pieces of land that are very close together and in the vicinity of the Old Beery Cemetery. Sec. 9 is immediately south of Sec. 4.

1839 Aug 1: During the administration of Martin van Buren, Joseph receives a patent for 40.31 acres of US government land on the SW/4 NW/4 Sec. 28-15-17 in Fairfield Co., OH. (32)

1840: There is an interpretation of the 1840 US census (35) that shows Joseph and Magdalena living in Rush Creek Twp. of Fairfield Co., OH with their children who have not yet married (Daniel, Noah, Abraham, Samuel, Jacob C.).

1849 Aug 25: Joseph dies at age 65 yr, 8 mo, 13 da; buried at Sugar Hill Cemetery in Fairfield Co., OH (10).
 
 

1850 Sep 25: The 1850 US census shows Magadena living in Marion Township, Hocking Co, OH with daughter Anna and son Jacob C. and owning $500 of real estate. (36)

Daughter Anna is married eight days later on Oct 3 to Jacob Horning.

1860 Jun 21: There is a recording error interpretation of the 1860 US census (37) that shows Magdalena living with her daughter Anna Good Horning and her family in German Twp. of Allen Co., OH.

1862 Nov 19: Magdalena dies; buried at Salem Mennonite Cemetery near Elida in Allen Co., OH. (20) The name on her grave marker is Magdalena. (23) On the church's burial record, it is Magdalene. (24)

Magdalena is buried beside David Campbell.

The first marker in (41 f14) is David. His wife Eve is on his left (out of the picture), and Magdalena is on his right (the marker leaning forward). Her son Samuel is two places to her right, and between them is Lavina, who probably is Samuel's daughter. Magdalena's son Abraham is in the center foreground of (41 f24). David and Magdalena are just above him in that picture. Magdalena's husband, Joseph, is buried in Fairfield Co., where they were living when he died.
