1807 marriage bond

Family histories often refer to him as "Joseph C. Good," but the legal documents that I have seen and his grave marker all say just "Joseph Good." His son Joseph used "Joseph C. Good." -- dg 2008 Oct 17

1783 Dec 12: Born in Lancaster Co., PA to [an error occurred while processing this directive] and Frances Groh (1, 2, 3).

?? Two secondary sources claim that Joseph was born in Germany. One is his grandson Demos B. Good (25 p49-56), and the other is unknown (2 pDG-007). However, it seems more likely that Joseph was born on the family homestead on Muddy Creek that his father inherited. -- dg 2008 Aug 24

1795: Joseph's parents move from Lancaster Co., PA to eastern Virginia, then to Augusta Co. in the Shenandoah Valley, and finally to Rockingham Co., VA near Harrisonburg. Being only 12 in 1795, Joseph probably moved with them.

1803: Joseph's father [an error occurred while processing this directive] dies near Harrisonburg.

Family Connection Joseph and Magdalena are our ancestors who moved from Rockingham Co., VA to Fairfield Co., OH in 1811. Joseph's brothers John and David made the same move at about the same time. John and David's wives were sisters, Mary and Barbara Neiswander.

1810: The US census shows a Joseph Good heading a household of six in Rockingham Co., VA. (8) The ages and genders fit Joseph, Magdalena, their first three children Esther, David, and Henry, and another woman older than 45.
