John P.'s obituary (2) says he was born in Morton Co. MO, but there is no such county. If he was born in Missouri, it probably was in Morgan Co. where his future wife was born.

John's father's name appears as Melchiah (2), Melchia (5), Melchoir (7) and John L. (1). The obituary of John P.'s mother (7) tells a consistent story. The father of John P. is Melchoir Brenneman, and John L. Brenneman is the second husband of John P.'s mother Elizabeth. -- dg 2008

As a small child, John P. goes with his parents to Ohio, and he lives there until early manhood. (2)
