These children are identified from the deeds cited above for the sale of Jacob's land after his death in Virginia to Jeremiah Kyle. Because these children are scattered among Dauphin Co., PA, Lancaster Co., PA, and Rockingham Co., VA, histories often do not name all six. Two that do are (9,12).

Because Jacob died without a will, his widow Frances and all 12 of his children are the heirs to his estate. All 13 of them, except Catharine, are named in the land deeds for the sale of Jacob's land after his death. At 17, Catharine is still a minor, and the deed (4) is signed by her guardian Henry Rhodes (13), husband of her sister Elizabeth.

Family Connection This Jacob is our first Good ancestor born in America. His father and grandfather both immigrated to Pennsylvania from what is now Germany. Jacob and his second wife Frances are our ancestors who moved from Pennsylvania to Virginia in the late 1700s. Mary Good Best and Francis (6 p21) and others such as (10 p71) identify a Mary as a child of Jacob and his second wife Frances. However, the sale of Jacob's land after his death raises some doubts. His estate was divided into 13 parts, and the land deeds (2-5) identify exactly his widow Frances and the 12 children shown on Jacob's page as his heirs. There is just no 14th part for Mary, perhaps because she was the daughter of a different Jacob Good. Jacob Good and Elizabeth Stoner Confusion The 1989 Six Good Families article by Best and Francis identifies Elizabeth Stoner as Wife #1 of Jacob Good (GC22). However, an errata sheet soon retracts that, while retaining Elizabeth Stoner as the wife of Jacob Good (GB21). Other sources also name Elizabeth Stoner as the first wife of Jacob (GC22), but I have seen none that cite a primary source. Before the errata sheet, the original 1989 Best and Francis article has two different Jacob Goods, GB21 and GC22, each with a wife named Elizabeth Stoner and a son named Peter.
