?? When was Jacob born? The 1900 US Census (5) states that he was born "Aug 1831," and his ages on the 1870 and 1880 US Census (3,4) agree with that. Family sources (1 p247) and (2 p101) state a birth date August 14, 1839. However, was Jacob's sister Catherine born July 6, 1839 (2), and then Jacob on August 14? Probably not. Written by hand, "1" and "9" easily can be confused. -- dg 2011 Nov 15

Jacob, his sister Barbara, and his brothers George and John all emigrated from Germany. They earned money for their parents, Jacob and Judith, and the rest of the family to immigrate around 1854 and settle near Cicero, IN. (8  fg/1979/eg/003)

Family Connection Jacob and Sarah Petry Gaiser are our great grandparents who were married in Tipton Co., IN in 1862 and came to Marion Co., KS sometime between 1880 and 1883. 1883 Aug 17: Their youngest son Joseph is born at their new home near Canada, KS. (1 p3)

1885 Mar 1: The Kansas Census shows the entire family living in Wilson Twp. of Marion Co., KS near Canada. (12)

While the family is living here, Frances is married and leaves for her new home in the country of Canada.

Soon after Frances leaves, Jacob and Sarah and their remaining family move to Peabody, KS. (6)

When Jacob falls from a wagon and breaks his hip, Sarah goes to work to help support the family. (6)
