Ruth A. Hershberger

HESSTON - Ruth A. Hershberger, 94, died Jan. 13, 2005, at Hesston.

She was born April 24, 1910, at Harper, the daughter of Samuel G. and Cora Alice Shupe Schmidt. A Harper area resident until moving to Hesston in 1988, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church with an associate membership at Hesston Mennonite Church.

On May 4, 1947, she married Andrew Hershberger at Harper. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Roy, Owensboro, Ky., and Dale, Clay Center; a brother, Earl Schmidt, Biglerville, Penn., a sister, Edna Curtiss, Newton; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Schowalter Villa Chapel, Hesston, with Chaplain Beverly Baumgartner and Pastor Cheryl Hershberger presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Hesston. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Harper.

Memorials may be sent to the Mennonite Central Committee or to Hesston College, both in care of the funeral home.
