6. HORNING, Anna M. (JEWETT) [Marker (1)] 1863-1953
(m. 01 Jan 1902, St. Joseph, MO to Joseph HORNING, 3Ch.)
Anna Martha Jewett, born Oct 3, 1868, Fairbury, IL, daughter of John A and Susan (Redman) Jewett, St. Joe MO when small. On Jan 1, 1902 she married Joseph Horning (see just above). She died on Aug 3, 1953.

4. John S Good [Marker (2)], died Mar 10, 1889, aged 77 years, 4 months, 20 days
Brother of our David Good. John was born Oct 20, 1811 in Hocking County OH and married Sarah Grimm on Apr 17, 1834. They moved to Allen County OH in 1855. Page Co IA, Sep 15, 1864, trip to Page Co took 3 weeks. He was a farmer and served as minister and later as bishop for nearly twenty-five years in Page County, as one of the pioneer Mennonite pastors and itinerant ministers of the trans-Mississippi frontier. After his first wife, Sarah, passed away (see above), he married Magdalene Hamm Beery (see above).

An interesting note - John was the gr gr
grandfather of our 4th cousin, Bernice
Ladd Harrelson. John was also the grandfather of Esther Good Fox Horst.
Esther's second husband, Gaius Horst, was the second husband of Ginny's
Aunt Maggie (Frey) Horst, who was Ginny's mother, Myrtle (Frey) Good's
oldest sister.

Sarah Good, born May 12, 1851, Hocking Co OH, married first John Markwell on Nov 22, 1874. She was a daughter, 11th child, of John S and Sarah (Grimm) Good. (see just above). It is shown that her husband was a Free Methodist Church minister. Her second husband was J.F. Bates. She died Oct 1930.

David was our gr gr grandfather.

Lydia Beery Engle Stemen Good was David's
second wife.
4. Leona Horning, 1869-1956
Leona Ferguson born, KS, daughter of Samuel and Magdalena (Hoffman) Ferguson, on Oct 8, 1891 married Isaac Horning (see following).

4. Isaac Horning, 1862-1941
Isaac was the 8th child of Anna (Good) Horning and Jacob Horning. Isaac was born Allen Co OH. (Info from Debbie Lubbs - They were her great-grandparents. Leona died a few days short of Debbie's 6th birthday, but she can remember her once. Debbie was at their house in later years.)

5. Anna (Good) Horning, wife of J. Horning, died Jan 17, 1897, aged 70 years, 2 months, 24 days
Youngest daughter of Joseph & Magdalena. This is the daughter that Magdalena went to live with after Joseph passed away in 1849, Fairfield Co OH. First they went to Allen Co OH, where Magdalena died Nov 19, 1862 & is buried. On Sep 15, 1864 Anna & husband, Jacob, came to Page Co IA by covered wagon; settled south of Shambaugh near now hwy 71. The house is not there anymore.
(Interesting note from Debbie Lubbs - Anna's great grandson, in the 1920s, went with someone into the house where Anna and Jacob had lived in Shambaugh IA. He was shown where Anna would sit in the corner of the parlor and smoke her pipe.)

6. Jacob Horning, died Mar 25, 1873, aged 52 years, 1 month, 9 days
Husband of Anna above, married Oct 3, 1850. Born in Germany, emigrated to PA in 1830, desiring to become a farmer, at age 12 worked on farm of George Hoffman, Franklin Co OH, 1842. Bought a farm in 1853 and lived there until 1858. Then moved to Allen Co OH, a few miles from Lima until 1864 when they moved by covered wagon to Page Co IA. Voted for Abraham Lincoln and was a Mennonite.
