Because Jacob died without a will, his widow Frances and all 12 of his children are the heirs to his estate. All 13 of them, except Catharine, are named in the land deeds for the sale of Jacob's land after his death. At 17, Catharine is still a minor, and the deed (4) is signed by her guardian Henry Rhodes (13), husband of her sister Elizabeth.

Family Connection Frances is the second wife of Jacob Good, our first Good ancestor born in America. Jacob and Frances are our ancestors who moved from Pennsylvania to Virginia in the late 1700s. Mary Good Best and Francis (6 p21) and others such as (10 p71) identify a Mary as a child of Jacob and his second wife Frances. However, the sale of Jacob's land after his death raises some doubts. His estate was divided into 13 parts, and the land deeds (2-5) identify exactly his widow Frances and the 12 children shown on Jacob's page as his heirs. There is just no 14th part for Mary, perhaps because she was the daughter of a different Jacob Good.
