On May 15, 1813, the heirs of Peter Burkholder
acknowledged they had
received their shares of his estate. The administrators of the estate
had fulfilled their obligations and were released from any further
responsibility. Each of Peter's children received the sum of 328
pounds, 8 pence. The shares of his deceased daughters, Anna (Ann) and
Mary, were distributed to their "infant children." The phrase,
"although said children may not have been so entitled under said will"
implies Anna and Mary had probably died after Peter's nuncupative will
was filed in court in November 1812. The Release was signed by Peter's
sons-in-law, Rudolph Kagey and Melchoir Brenneman, sons David and
Peter Burkholder, and witnesses Jacob and Christian Brunk.

This well-preserved original document clearly shows Peter's daughter
Anna was the wife of David (not Daniel) Brenneman and Mary was the
wife of Jacob Hockman. Mary had two daughters, Mary and Susan, but the
names and number of Anna's children has not yet been determined.
Documents provided by Pete Burkholder.
