Huguenin Travels 2002

2003 May 3

After a mere eight months, here is the full set of pictures from my travels last summer to visit some descendants of my great grandparents Ulysse and Eugénie Huguenin. This includes all of the sets I have released before and some new ones. There is a lot of information here. There are over 500 unedited pictures just as they came out of my camera. The summaries here will guide you to some of the highlights. I'm happy to hear about glitches and information that will fill some of the gaps.

While spending a week in San Francisco with my son Doug, my first trip was to Fairfield, CA to visit my aunt Reba Huguenin. She was the wife of Wesley Vernon Huguenin, a grandson of Ulysse and Eugénie. The second trip was to attend the Proctor/Jones reunion in Stanford, MT where the senior member of the Huguenin clan is Leon Proctor, another grandson of Ulysse and Eugénie.

I had never met Leon until he roused me out of the SunDown Motel on my first morning in Stanford to take me home and feed me breakfast. I was warmly received and well fed, and that became the keynote for the entire trip. Thus began my first tour of the country where my grandparents Oscar and Pearl Huguenin lived from 1910-1916, and where my mother Jane spent the first two years of her life, helping her mother keep her little brother Wesley Vernon out of trouble. At least that's the way she probably would tell the story. This also began my introduction to various flavors of many new cousins whom I had never met before.

As usually happens, both trips provided some rewarding family history discoveries and some intriguing new mysteries to explore. Both trips were a blast, and although the life styles in urban San Francisco and rural Montana were quite a contrast, I'm ready to go back to either place any time!
