Preface. I'm not sure what date to put on this report because
I'm using it to record things as the trip progresses. I chose June
1 because I thought the report would be finished by then, but that was
only wishful thinking on my part. For example, only my digital photographs
are available now. The pictures I took on film won't be developed
until after June 1. Also, these electronic documents have a way of
continuing to evolve. I probably should have used May 21 when the
trip started. At least that date doesn't keep changing.
At this point, I'm going to stick with June 1, 2001. At least that
will distinguish it from other trip reports.
Appendics. Field notes, photos, documents
Mon May 21. I drove from Austin, TX to
Peabody, KS, and
spent the night with my mother,
Jane Good. It was a hard
trip because I had burned up far too much energy the weekend before
running and dancing and preparing for the trip. One of the highlights
of the trip was a herd of about 20-30 buffalo grazing in a pasture in
OK.
Tue May 22. I drove from Peabody to Lansing, KS to spend the
night with my brother Rick,
wife Karen and daughther Andi. Andi has just graduated from high
school the weekend before, so I took her and her parent our for graduation
dinner at Mama Mia's.

That afternoon Rick and I finally had decided how we were going to attach
some family history flyers to a few grave sites in Butler and Davis cemeteries
in Page Co. IA, and we spent some of the rest of the evening getting those
ready to go. From our previous trips to Page Co in
1999
and 2000, we had noticed that
someone was taking care of some of the family grave sites, and Rick had
come up with the idea that maybe we could make contact with some of them
around Memorial Day. So planting these flyers
seeking family history information about our great great grandfather
David Good
and any of his family was the main purpose of our trip to
Page Co.
Wed May 23. Rick and I left about 6:30am for Page Co, IA.
Butler Cemetery
This was our first stop. We rolled in there about 8:30am.
It was well trimmed up for Memorial Day, and there is a nice, low morning
light coming down on the east hillside, but it was cool
and windy, and it continued that way for much of the day.
