The Hamilton National Genealogical Society, Inc. has posted a family tree (2-6) for Alexander Hamilton that is attributed to his wife and grandson and recorded by David Loth. (7) This tree (4) shows James Hamilton (#60)and Rachel Fawcett having two sons, Alexander (#123) and James (#124). Another biographer, Ron Chernow (8), has suggested that Alexander's biological father may have been a Stevens rather than James Hamilton. DNA testing reported to date has been inconclusive. "Thus, at this time we cannot come to any definite conclusions whether Alexander Hamilton's father was, or was not, a Hamilton and whether the DNA results of Group D represent those of an early Hamilton line."
