Aug 9 Enlarging Images. If you want to enlarge an image,
try just clicking on it. The old Enlarge links gradually are
being phased out.
Aug 7 (2) Update: Elder Jacob Stucky. This page
sketches the 1874 immigration, including some evidence that about a
dozen of the immigrant children may be buried in unmarked
graves at the Catlin Community Cemetery. This update has more detail.
Aug 7 (1) New: Kotosufka,
Volhynia.
This was the home that the Russian Mennonite immigrants
led by Elder Jacob Stucky left behind in 1874 for a new life
central Kansas. In time, they would found the
Hopefield and Eden churches
near Moundridge, KS.
Aug 4 New: Bishop Christian Burkholder (B576)
Ancestry Update. A new article from the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society shows that
the ancestors of this well-known Mennonite bishop of Lancaster Co. PA
came from Switzerland, rather than Germany. Copies of the documents
that are the evidence for this change are shown in the addenda to the
article, which are displayed here.

Jun 16 New: Trip
Report, Central KS, May 27-Jun 3. This has new information
about the Russian Mennonite immigrants who arrived on the
S. S. City of Richmond in 1874, the Gaiser family, and from Benton, KS,
the discovery of a new line of the Good family, with a Catholic
rather than a Mennonite heritage.
May 24 FYI: Web Server Restored. A new web server now is
providing these pages. Please report any problems through

Most web sites sometimes are unavailable, for a variety of reasons,
some good, some not so good. If you expect any web site to be there,

A power outage on May 12 brought down the primary server, and it
refuses to restart. It will be restored as soon as possible.
