Dec 19. Final Grades. Your final grades have been reported to the Registrar. I'll be happy to email your topic report score and your final grade if you send me an email request.
If you received an X for your final grade, it means that your topic report contains plagiarism issues, and it is still under review. I will be contacting you about this via email.
Dec 5. Topic Report Due.
Dec 3. Week 15 Topic, Computing People. For the rest of the semester, we will discuss some of the people who have had a significant impact on computing. Check the Weekly Topics for which people are open for discussion on a particular date.
o Come to class prepared to discuss any of the individuals listed for that date. Bring biographical specifics. We certainly will be interested in their professional contributions, but other interesting aspects of their lives also are welcome. This is our chance to get better acquainted with these folks as human beings.o Please send me any interesting links you find so that we can display them in class. Some of you should already have some because some of these people are the subjects of your Topic Reports.
Nov 7. UT
Academic Integrity. This page from the Office of the Dean of
Students gives the official UT definition of plagiarism, and it also
explains how to avoid plagiarism by the proper use of quotations,
citations, and references.
Nov 5. Topic Report Approval. Some of you still need to get final approval on the subject of your Topic Report.
Revised Weekly Report Grading Procedure
Oct 10. Topic Report Proposal. Some of
you did not turn in the assignment for Week
#6, and therefore, you will get a zero for that report. However,
that assignement was your proposal for your Topic Report. You still
need to turn in the Topic Report proposal part of that assignement and
get my approval on your topic. Otherwise, you will get no credit for
your Topic Report, and that report is 30% of your grade.
Night Owl Warning! I am happy to respond to email questions, but be advised. I am not the night owl that some of you are. My prime working hours are on the other side of the clock, early in the morning. So time your email accordingly. -- dg
